Export surplus garments from Bangladesh for Saudi and African wholesalers
You want T-shirts, polos, fleece, denim or kids basics in volume. Bangladesh is one of the world's largest garment exporters, and its export surplus is one of the steadiest sources of apparel lots.
What a Bangladesh lot usually holds
Bangladesh lots are mostly apparel. On the knit side you see T-shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, fleece and kids basics such as bodysuits, sleepwear and sets. On the woven side you see shirts, trousers and denim jeans. Many lots are plain or lightly printed basics in a range of colours, which suits a wholesaler who sells by the dozen.
Local traders call these goods export surplus. They are pieces made for an export order that were left over, cut extra or not shipped. For the wider category view, see apparel stock lots and kids wear stock lots.
Factory belts, ports and why surplus appears
The garment factories cluster around Dhaka, Gazipur, Narayanganj, Savar and Ashulia, with another belt around Chattogram. Most export cargo leaves through Chattogram (Chittagong), the main seaport. Sea freight from Chattogram usually transships at a hub port before it reaches the Gulf or Africa.
Surplus appears because export factories cut a margin of extra pieces, buyers cancel or cut orders, and seasons end before goods ship. The result is new stock in export packing, often with full size runs in some styles and broken runs in others.
What to check before you take a Bangladesh lot
- Size ratio. Ask for the size breakdown per style. Knit basics often come heavy in the middle sizes.
- Fabric and weight. Ask for the composition on the label and photos of the fabric close up.
- Labels. Branded export surplus may need labels cut or a release from the brand owner. We tell you up front which applies.
- Grade. Confirm whether the lot is all A-grade or includes disclosed B-grade pieces.
- Packing. Check whether goods are folded and polybagged per piece or packed loose by the carton.
Getting Bangladesh garments to Saudi Arabia
| Destination | Port | Usual route |
|---|---|---|
| Jeddah, Makkah, Madinah | Jeddah Islamic Port | Chattogram with a hub transhipment to Jeddah, or via Jebel Ali |
| Dammam, Al Khobar, Eastern Province | King Abdulaziz Port, Dammam | Chattogram with a hub transhipment to Dammam, or via Jebel Ali and on by road |
| Riyadh and central region | Dammam then road, or Riyadh Dry Port by rail | Sea to Dammam, or via Dubai by road through the Al Batha crossing |
Every route is confirmed per order. Saudi customs is run by ZATCA. You pay 15% import VAT, and most goods carry the GCC common external tariff of 5% on value, though some lines differ by HS code. Your importer of record needs a Commercial Registration and customs registration. SABER, the SASO conformity platform, applies to many consumer goods, and some textile, footwear and children's items fall under SASO technical regulations. Whether your lot needs a SABER certificate depends on the HS code, and we check that before shipping.
Country of origin must show on the goods and documents, and many consumer goods need Arabic labelling. City guides: Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Al Khobar and Makkah.
Shipping Bangladesh lots to Africa
For East Africa, lots ship to Mombasa for Kenya and Uganda, or to Dar es Salaam for Tanzania and the Central Corridor. These markets need PVoC certificates for regulated products. For West Africa, Lagos serves Nigeria and Tema serves Ghana. Nigeria keeps an import prohibition list that has covered textiles at different times, so we check the HS code against the current list before you commit. Further south, Durban serves South Africa, where clothing duty can be high.
Most Bangladesh lots to Africa transship at a hub port, or travel through Dubai when you want them mixed with other lots. See stock lots for Africa for country paperwork.

What garments come in Bangladesh stock lots?
Mostly knitwear such as T-shirts, polos, sweatshirts, fleece and kids basics, plus woven shirts, trousers and denim. Many lots are plain or lightly printed basics packed for export.
What does export surplus mean in Bangladesh?
It is the local trade term for new garments left over from export orders. They come from extra cutting, cancelled or reduced orders, and stock that missed its shipping window. The goods are new and usually in export packing.
Which port do Bangladesh stock lots ship from?
Most leave from Chattogram, also called Chittagong, the main seaport. Sea freight from there usually transships at a hub port before reaching Jeddah, Dammam or an African port, or it moves through Dubai.
Can Bangladesh garment lots go straight to Riyadh?
Riyadh has no seaport. Lots usually ship to Dammam and move about 400 km by road or by rail to Riyadh Dry Port. Another option is Dubai, then road through the Al Batha crossing. We confirm the route per order.
Do Bangladesh garments need SABER for Saudi Arabia?
It depends on the HS code. Some textile and children's items fall under SASO technical regulations and need SABER certificates. We check the HS codes in your lot before it ships.
Can I import Bangladesh stock lots into Nigeria?
Possibly, but Nigeria's import prohibition list has covered textiles at different times. We check the current Nigeria Customs Service list against the HS code first. See stock lots for Nigeria.
Are branded labels left on Bangladesh surplus?
Not always. Some branded surplus must have labels cut, and some needs a release from the brand owner before resale. We tell you which case applies before you agree to buy.
