Getting new stock lots to Kampala

Uganda has no sea port, so your lot has to come through a neighbour. This page explains how Global Pioneer plans that for Kampala buyers.

Short answer: Global Pioneer, based in Dubai, supplies new stock lots to Ugandan buyers from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and India. Because Uganda is landlocked, goods land at Mombasa or Dar es Salaam and travel by road to Kampala. Lots ship direct or consolidated at Jebel Ali. Kifayatullah confirms the route, UNBS PVoC check and documents for each order.

Kampala buyers and the Owino and Kikuubo trade

Kampala is the centre of Ugandan wholesale. Owino market and the Kikuubo wholesale area draw traders from across the country, and from there goods go out to upcountry towns. Buyers there look for new clothing, shoes and household goods they can sell at a margin, and a lot bought at the right price gives that room.

Global Pioneer has traded from Dubai since 2017. We have no office, licence or agent in Uganda. We handle the lot and the sea leg, and your clearing and transit agent handles the corridor and Ugandan customs. Start at our Africa stock lot hub for the regional picture.

Two corridors into a landlocked market

You can bring a lot to Kampala through Kenya or through Tanzania. The Northern Corridor runs from Mombasa and crosses at Malaba or Busia. The Central Corridor starts at Dar es Salaam. We confirm the route and documents per shipment.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards runs a PVoC programme for regulated goods. Whether your lot needs it depends on the HS code, and we check that before booking. Transit through Kenya or Tanzania adds its own paperwork, which your agent manages. The general steps are in our Africa import guide.

Choosing between Mombasa and Dar es Salaam

Many Kampala importers use Mombasa because the Northern Corridor is the familiar road. Others pick Dar es Salaam when sailings or their agent's network suit it better. We do not promise transit times. We tell you what sailings exist for your lot and you decide with your agent. Read the Kenya page and the Tanzania page for each port. Some Kampala traders also supply eastern Congo, covered on DR Congo stock lots.

Goods that move in Kampala

Our lots are new goods only: export surplus, cancelled orders, overruns and end-of-season stock. We never send second-hand clothing. Any B-grade pieces are disclosed first. This comparison shows what each source does best.

Questions buyers ask

Which port is used for stock lots to Uganda?

Mostly Mombasa in Kenya, with Dar es Salaam in Tanzania as the other option. Uganda is landlocked, so the goods continue by road. We confirm which port suits your shipment.

Does my lot need a UNBS PVoC certificate?

Regulated products may need a Certificate of Conformity under the UNBS PVoC programme. It depends on the HS code. We check your lot and confirm documents per shipment before loading.

Do you deliver to Owino market or Kikuubo?

We do not run deliveries inside Uganda and have no local office. We ship to the sea port. Your transit agent moves the goods to Kampala and you take delivery there.

What border crossings do Kenya-route lots use?

Lots on the Northern Corridor usually enter Uganda at Malaba or Busia. Your agent picks the crossing and handles transit clearance through Kenya and into Uganda, including any bond or transit document the route needs.

Are these lots new or used clothing?

New. Every lot is unworn surplus stock from factories and exporters. If minor-fault B-grade goods are included, Kifayatullah tells you before you commit, so you can price them for upcountry shops.

Can I split a container with another Kampala trader?

That is between you and your partner. We ship one consignment to one consignee. A Dubai consolidated lot can mix categories so you can share the range after clearance.

How do I start an order from Kampala?

Message Kifayatullah with your categories, corridor and agent. He sends available lots with photos and packing lists, then confirms the corridor, route and documents for the order before you pay.
