Getting new stock lots inland to Kigali

You buy for a shop, a wholesale business or a distributor in Rwanda and need new surplus goods without a sea port of your own. This page shows how Global Pioneer gets a lot from Asia to Kigali.

Short answer: Global Pioneer, a Dubai trading company, supplies new wholesale stock lots to Rwandan buyers from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and India. Lots land at Mombasa for the Northern Corridor through Kenya and Uganda, or at Dar es Salaam for the Central Corridor through Tanzania, then move by road to Kigali. Kifayatullah confirms the route and documents per order.

A landlocked market with two sea gates

Rwanda has no coast, so every container from Asia arrives through a neighbour's port and then crosses at least one land border. Kigali is the main market. Wholesalers there supply shops in the city and in towns across the country, and some sell on to buyers over the border in eastern DR Congo.

Global Pioneer has traded from Deira, Dubai since 2017. We have no office, licence or agent in Rwanda or on the transit routes. We ship to the port you choose, and your clearing and transit agent handles the inland leg and the Rwandan formalities.

Northern Corridor or Central Corridor

The Northern Corridor starts at Mombasa and runs through Kenya and Uganda to Rwanda. The Central Corridor starts at Dar es Salaam and runs through Tanzania. Both carry Rwandan cargo every day. The better choice depends on vessel schedules from the source port, your transit agent and current conditions on each road. Security and border conditions on corridors change, so we confirm the route is open before you commit.

EAC rules that shape a Rwandan order

Rwanda is part of the East African Community customs union, so goods from outside the bloc pay the EAC common external tariff by HS code. Transit cargo moves under bond through Kenya or Tanzania and is cleared in Rwanda. RSB (Rwanda Standards Board) sets the standards some regulated products must meet. Whether your lines need a conformity check depends on the product, and we look at that with you before loading.

The EAC has discouraged second-hand clothing imports. Our lots are new goods, not used clothing: cancelled orders, production overruns and end-of-season stock from Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Bangladesh and China. Any B-grade cartons are declared up front.

Lot choices that travel well inland

A long inland route adds handling, so packing matters. Ask for carton marks and a detailed packing list. Our Africa import guide walks through each document, and source countries compared helps you pick where to buy.

Questions buyers ask

How do stock lots reach Kigali from Asia?

Lots sail from Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, Cambodia or India to Mombasa or Dar es Salaam. They then move by road on the Northern Corridor through Kenya and Uganda, or the Central Corridor through Tanzania. Kifayatullah confirms which route is open and suitable before you commit.

Should I use Mombasa or Dar es Salaam for Rwanda?

Both ports serve Rwandan cargo. The choice depends on vessel schedules from the source port, where your transit agent works and current road conditions. We compare the two for each order and tell you which one we propose.

What duty does Rwanda charge on imported clothing?

Rwanda applies the EAC common external tariff, which sets rates by HS code for goods from outside the East African Community. Clothing lines can differ, so ask your clearing agent to check each HS code on the packing list before you agree a price.

Does Rwanda accept these stock lots given the second-hand clothing rules?

The EAC has discouraged second-hand clothing imports. Our stock lots are new, unworn goods from factory surplus, cancelled orders and end-of-season stock. The commercial invoice and packing list describe them as new goods.

Does RSB need to approve my stock lot?

RSB (Rwanda Standards Board) sets standards for some regulated products. Whether your lines need a conformity check depends on the product and HS code. We review the list with you before loading so your agent knows what to expect.

Can I share a container with a buyer in Uganda?

Yes, if you agree it with that buyer. A container on the Northern Corridor can be split, and a lot consolidated at Jebel Ali can carry several buyers' goods. See the Uganda page for that side of the route.

Does Global Pioneer have an office in Rwanda?

No. Global Pioneer works from Deira, Dubai, and has no office, licence or agent in Rwanda. We ship to Mombasa or Dar es Salaam, and your clearing and transit agent handles the inland leg and the clearance in Rwanda.
