New surplus lots for Lusaka and Copperbelt buyers
You stock shops or run a wholesale business in Lusaka, Kitwe or Ndola and need new surplus goods brought a long way inland. This page shows the routes Global Pioneer uses to reach Zambia.
Where Zambian demand sits
Lusaka is the main market. Wholesalers there supply shops in the capital and in towns along the main roads. The Copperbelt, around Kitwe and Ndola, is the second centre, with its own traders and a steady pull for workwear, family clothing and footwear. Some Zambian buyers also sell on to the border areas of DR Congo.
Global Pioneer works from Deira, Dubai, and has done so since 2017. We have no office, licence or agent in Zambia or in the transit countries. We ship to a port, and your clearing and transit agent brings the cargo inland and clears it.
Three ways inland
Zambia is landlocked, so the route matters as much as the lot. Most Asian cargo comes in from the east through Dar es Salaam. Some comes up from the south through Durban. The Lobito Corridor through Angola is developing as a western option. We confirm which route is open and practical before you commit.
| Route | Sea port | Inland leg | Points to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| East by rail | Dar es Salaam, Tanzania | TAZARA railway into Zambia | Rail schedule and wagon availability |
| East by road | Dar es Salaam, Tanzania | Road through the Tunduma and Nakonde border | Border queues and transit bond |
| South by road | Durban, South Africa (Walvis Bay is another southern option) | Road north through the transit countries | More borders to cross, transit papers for each |
| West, developing | Lobito, Angola | Lobito Corridor | Ask us for the current position |
The coastal side of each route has its own page: Tanzania, South Africa and Angola. Lots can sail direct from the source country or be consolidated at Jebel Ali first.
Clearing goods into Zambia
ZRA (Zambia Revenue Authority) handles customs and collects duty and import taxes. ZABS (Zambia Bureau of Standards) sets standards for some regulated products. Whether your lines need a standards check depends on the product and HS code, so we review the packing list with you before loading. Your agent files the entry with ZRA at the border or at an inland point.
Ask your agent for a landed cost by HS code before you agree a price. Transit across one or two countries adds bond and handling charges that a Lusaka buyer pays on top of the lot. Our guide to importing stock lots into Africa lists the documents in order.
Matching the source to the shelf
- Knitwear basics, fleece and denim from Bangladesh export surplus, useful for the cooler months.
- Trainers, school shoes and bags from China and Vietnam.
- Travel bags and garments from Cambodia.
- Cotton apparel, kids wear and towels from India.
- Mixed containers packed in Dubai when one source does not fill a box.
All lots are new and unworn: cancelled orders, production overruns and end-of-season stock. B-grade cartons, if any, are disclosed before payment. For a side-by-side view of the five origins, read stock lot source countries compared.

How do stock lots get from Asia to Lusaka?
Most lots sail to Dar es Salaam and continue by TAZARA railway or by road through the Tunduma and Nakonde border. Some land at Durban and go north by road. Kifayatullah checks which route is open and practical for your order before you commit.
Is TAZARA or road better for a Zambian stock lot?
It depends on the rail schedule, wagon availability and border conditions at Tunduma and Nakonde at the time. Road is often more flexible, rail can suit full loads. We compare both with your transit agent for each order.
Can I ship a stock lot to Zambia through Durban?
Yes. Durban is the busiest container port in sub-Saharan Africa, and cargo can go north by road to Zambia. The road crosses more borders than the eastern route, so your agent needs transit papers for each. See the South Africa page.
Who clears my goods in Zambia?
Your clearing agent files the entry with ZRA (Zambia Revenue Authority). Global Pioneer has no office in Zambia. We provide the commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin and bill of lading your agent needs.
Does ZABS need to check imported clothing or shoes?
ZABS (Zambia Bureau of Standards) sets standards for some regulated products. Whether a line needs a check depends on the product and HS code. We go through the packing list with you before loading so nothing surprises your agent at the border.
Do you supply buyers on the Copperbelt?
Yes. We ship to the port and your transit agent can deliver to Kitwe, Ndola or another Copperbelt town. Name your final city when you enquire so the route and transit papers are planned for it.
Is the Lobito Corridor an option for Zambia?
The Lobito Corridor from Angola is developing as a western route towards Zambia. Ask Kifayatullah for the current position before you plan on it. The Angola page covers the port side.
