Djibouti stock lots for local shops and onward trade
Djibouti is a small market with a large port. You may be selling locally, holding goods in the free zone or moving them on to Ethiopia. Each needs a slightly different plan.
A port market that feeds its neighbours
Djibouti's home market is small, but the port is a regional gateway. Doraleh and the older Djibouti port handle cargo for Djibouti itself and for Ethiopian transit, and the free zone lets traders hold and break goods before selling them on. Buyers here include local retailers, free zone traders and importers who send goods inland.
Global Pioneer is a Dubai trading company, set up in 2017. We have no office, licence or warehouse in Djibouti. We arrange the lot and the freight. Your forwarder handles port, free zone and transit steps. The Africa stock lots page shows other markets.
Three ways buyers use a Djibouti shipment
| Use | What happens at the port | What to plan |
|---|---|---|
| Local sale in Djibouti | Cleared for the home market | Local import clearance with your agent |
| Held in the free zone | Stored and broken into smaller lots | Free zone rules and your trader's set-up |
| Transit to Ethiopia | Moved by railway or road to Addis Ababa | Ethiopian buyer's bank permit and FX, transit papers |
We confirm the route and documents per shipment. If your buyer is in Ethiopia, read our Ethiopia stock lot page for the bank permit side.
Sourcing routes into Doraleh
| Source | Port of discharge | Inland corridor | Typical lot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bangladesh via Chattogram | Doraleh, after transshipment | Local, free zone or toward Addis Ababa | Knitwear and woven basics |
| China | Doraleh | Local, free zone or toward Addis Ababa | Footwear, bags, general goods |
| Vietnam | Doraleh, after transshipment | Local or onward | Sportswear and women's wear |
| Cambodia | Doraleh, after transshipment | Local or onward | Garments and travel goods |
| India | Doraleh | Local or onward | Cotton apparel and home textiles |
| Jebel Ali consolidation | Doraleh or Djibouti port | Local or onward | Mixed categories |
A direct container suits you when one factory country covers the whole order, for example cotton basics from India. A consolidated load from Jebel Ali suits you when you want shoes from China, kids wear from Bangladesh and towels from India in one box. Dubai and Djibouti have a long shipping link, so mixed loads are common on this lane. The full import sequence is in our Africa import guide.
What the lots contain
Our lots are new goods only. They come from export surplus, cancelled orders, production overruns and end-of-season stock. We do not trade used clothing. If a lot has minor-fault B-grade pieces, we say so before you commit. Compare the source countries to decide where to buy each category.
- Apparel for men, women and kids.
- Shoes and sandals.
- Bags, backpacks and accessories.
- Home textiles such as towels and bedsheets.

Which port do your Djibouti lots land at?
Usually Doraleh, the main container terminal, or the older Djibouti port. It depends on the shipping line serving your lot. We confirm the discharge port and documents per shipment.
Can I keep a stock lot in the Djibouti free zone?
Many traders do. The free zone lets you hold and split goods before sale. Your free zone company handles entry rules. We supply the invoice and packing list.
Can a lot landed at Djibouti go to Addis Ababa?
Yes. Djibouti is the main gateway for Ethiopian cargo, by railway or road. The Ethiopian importer needs a bank permit and foreign currency. See the Ethiopia page.
Do you have a warehouse in Djibouti?
No. Global Pioneer has no office, licence or warehouse in Djibouti. We ship from Dubai or the source country, and your forwarder handles the port side.
Are your lots second-hand?
No. Every lot is new and unworn. We sell export surplus, cancelled orders, overruns and end-of-season stock, with any B-grade pieces disclosed before you commit to the lot.
Can I order a small mixed lot for the local market?
Send Kifayatullah your categories and the size of order you can handle. He will check what is available and whether a consolidated load from Jebel Ali fits.
